As a comprehensive university, GVSU takes our
broad mission of Educating students to shape their lives, their professions and their societies very seriously. Thus faculty are supported in, and rewarded for their activities in the areas of teaching, scholarship and service. While teaching will always be our primary mission, faculty must be active in all three areas and are truly supported in service activities as well as scholarship. Many faculty members focus their efforts in the area of service and the scholarship of service. Supporting K-12 STEM education in west Michigan has become a major element of our service to the community.
