I am currently enrolled in the articulated Master's program, earning a B.S.E. in mechanical engineering and an M.S.E. in Product Design and Manufacturing engineering. I am currently in my last semester at GVSU and am working on completing my thesis in the area of materials science and engineering. In particular, I am studying the effect on the microstructural refinement of hypereutectic Al-Si when an electric current is applied during solidification.
I am the GA for the materials laboratory and work for Dr. Anyalebechi, who is also my thesis adviser. My duties as a graduate assistant include maintenance of the materials lab and assisting in the teaching of three sections of the EGR 250 materials laboratory. Additionally, I use the lab extensively for my thesis research.
Following graduation, I plan on continuing my graduate education and earning a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering. My GA position has allowed me to focus on my research and has given me teaching opportunities that would otherwise not be available for me. The skills that I have gained through these experiences have prepared me for further graduate work and for a career in engineering research and education.
