E-Discovery can sometimes involve more than the two parties in litigation. A third party that is affiliated with the case may be asked to provide any related information. Police may issue a search warrant for ESI (Electronically Stored Information), but this process is much more difficult due to the 4th amendment. In this case, the Amazon Echo could be the key to a murderer's identity.
