New Student GVSU Library Information

Welcome to the Grand Valley State University Libraries

As a new, transfer or returning adult student, we want to introduce you to the University Libraries and some of the resources and services available to help you succeed at GVSU.

GVSU has libraries on three campuses.

1. Zumberge Library: the main library of the University in Allendale. It houses the majority of the collection.

2. Steelcase Library: located in downtown Grand Rapids, Building A, DeVos Center, on the Pew Campus. It contains materials supporting courses taught in: Business, Education, Public and Nonprofit Administration, Social Work, Engineering, Hospitality, Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, and the Dorothy A. Johnson Collection on Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership. Older health sciences journals are also housed at the Steelcase Library.

3. Frey Learning Center: located in the Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences, downtown Grand Rapids. Materials related to nursing and health sciences are held at this location.

Library services and resources.

1. Course Reserve: click on course reserve tab to access items on course reserve for your classes.

2. Library Guides: find library databases and resources on specific research topics.

3. Document Delivery: request books and articles that the library does not own. You can also use this service to request a PDF copy of an article from journals owned by the library.

4. Ask A Librarian: get professional assistance searching for information and answering research questions by chat, email, telephone, or in-person at the reference desk. You may also consult with a librarian by appointment regarding your specific research needs.

5. Electronic Resources: many of the library resources are available to you electronically via the libraries' website at http://www.gvsu.edu/library

In order to use the library resources from home, you will need your GVSU network log in.
