General Strategic Planning Overview

Goal: To develop a strategic plan (made up of a mission and goals) for the Division that is in line with the current strategic plan of the university. ü Conduct a SWOT analysis through E-mail surveys to a range of staff, faculty, and students who have knowledge of the Division. ü Conduct 3 to 5 focus groups with a mix of faculty, staff, and students (mini intergroup dialogues) on the mission of the Division. ü Hold an off-campus half-day Strategic Planning retreat to define the mission and goals of the Division. Include the Dean, Associate and Assistant Deans, unit heads, two to three faculty, two to three administrators from outside the Division, and two to three students. ü Review briefly the history of the Division. ü Examine data from email surveys and focus groups. ü Determine mission statement for the Division. ü Establish goals in line with the mission.
