Would you ever build a house that has no foundation? No, then why are we teaching children how to read without a solid literacy foundation. Billions of dollars have been spent on literacy and our scores are going down. Why is that? We are trying to jump too far ahead when our students literacy foundation is not ensured. Phonemic Awareness, Synthetic Phonics, Vocabulary & Fluency are the key components to ensuring a solid foundation is built. You will walk away from this session with research-based strategies that are highly effective and efficient. Participants will know what is best for all readers and in turn will be able to construct a foundation that will last them a lifetime.
