Google Tracking

July 11, 2016

  • Is Google tracking your movements? Put away your tin foil hat because it’s not your imagination! Google’s Location History is the feature that gathers “useful information” about your movements so Google can make predictions about your future commutes (e.g. “time to leave” reminders from Google Maps). The info is shared with other Google apps and services which also affects the ads you see.
    • Want to see where you’ve been? On your smartphone (or using the same account you use on your smartphone), visit this URL. This will show you every location Google has saved from the first day of the month.
    • Don’t want to participate? You can delete your location history and disable the feature entirely by following this procedure.
