Pushing Boundaries: An Ovarian Gathering took place on Sunday, December 4, 2011 for all the activists and directors involved in the February 2012 production of That Takes Ovaries. On Monday, December 5, 2011 the Women's Center hosted Leading A Bold Life, a campus wide TTO reading and open mic event, with TTO book contributor Cecelia Wambach.

Each year, the Women's Center recognizes outstanding women students at the Women's Commission, Celebrating Women Awards. In 2011, Women's Center staff member, Jo Ann Wassenaar, was also recognized by the commission for her work on campus.

All-you-can-eat chocolate desserts and a silent auction highlight a fundraiser that takes place every February to benefit Grand Valley State Universitys Womens Center. Proceeds from the event benefit the Womens Center Program and Endowment Funds.

Each year, the Women's Center puts out a call for works of art to be displayed in our space. The center believes that the function of art is to challenge our perceptions and to help us create new meaning and understanding. The Women's Center is committed to using art as a form of expression for women. The exhibit focuses on a small number of student works that celebrate and highlight women's diverse experiences.

The Celebration of Women Awards was held on Thursday, April 1st. This event is sponsored by the GVSU Women's Commission. The mission of the GVSU Women's Commission is to ensure an environment that supports the rights of all women at the university. The commission is committed to working in partnership with the university on developing policies that remove barriers that impede women's learning, professional growth, creativity, employment, and society. As part of their work on campus, the Women's Commission annual recognizes women students, faculty, and staff who have made outstanding contributions to GVSU.
