Burden Selected for Niemeyer Award

Congratulations to Scott Burden ’16 for being named a 2016 Glenn A. Niemeyer Award recipient at the graduate student-level. The Niemeyer Award is the highest award for achievement given by Grand Valley State University (GVSU). A description of the award notes, “Students selected for the Niemeyer Awards are well-rounded individuals with demonstrated excellence in both the classroom and extra-curricular activities.  Recipients excel in the classroom and demonstrate a joy of learning as part of a community of scholars.  Along with intellectual achievements, recipients participate in activities outside the classroom that serve to enrich their lives and the lives of others” (GVSU, 2015, para. 1).

Scott is a second-year student in the M.Ed. in Higher Education program, emphasizing college student affairs leadership. He holds a graduate assistantship in the Milton E. Ford LGBT Resource Center and interned at Yale University the summer of 2015. Scott will receive the Niemeyer Award along with the 2016 Outstanding Student Award for the M.Ed. in Higher Education program at the Student Awards Convocation on April 11th.
