Community Service & Service Learning
Community Service Learning Center. The Community Service Learning Center (CSLC) provides community service, civic engagement, and extra curricular service learning opportunities for GVSU students to serve our local community. CSLC serves as a campus clearinghouse and resource for students and student organizations, as well as providing support to faculty and staff for related initiatives.

Women’s Issues Volunteer Corps. The Women’s Issues Volunteer Corps is a service learning and volunteer placement program coordinated through the Women’s Center with the mission of making a difference in the lives of women and girls through volunteer opportunities that pair education with activism. Service opportunities are open to faculty, staff and students. Volunteers are encouraged to take advantage of the variety of opportunities available throughout the school year and across the community.

CSLC Service Tracker. Link to CSLC’s Service Tracker tool, which allows students, student groups, and faculty to record their time spent in service to the greater community and the details of service activities.
GVSU Do Something Guide. The Do Something Guide is given to all incoming students to serve as a resource for taking responsibility for individual and collective learning, being an engaged member of the university community, and being a strong part of the community at large.

United We Serve. United We Serve is a nationwide service initiative, built on the belief that ordinary people can come together and achieve extraordinary things when given the proper tools. This initiative aims to both expand the impact of existing organizations by engaging new volunteers in their work and encourage volunteers to develop their own "do-it-yourself" projects. The website provides resources and opportunities to expand and deepen service and community engagement.
Michigan Nonprofit Association Civic Engagement AmeriCorps*VISTA Program. Michigan Nonprofit Association's (MNA) Civic Engagement team, comprised of The LEAGUE Michigan, Michigan Campus Compact, and Volunteer Centers of Michigan, expands efforts to reach across all areas of lifelong engagement through MNA. MNA Civic Engagement AmeriCorps*VISTA members are placed with K-12 schools, college campuses, or volunteer centers, and serve at least half of their service hours building capacity within a strategic community partner. MNA*VISTAS promote and strengthen community-building initiatives focused on education and economic opportunity.
