Evaluation and Assessment at GVSU
The Office for Community Engagement is facilitating a multi-year, collaborative effort to develop a toolkit for the evaluation of community-based learning and research at GVSU, led by an interdisciplinary impact assessment team. We invite our community partners to join this effort and share a community perspective. For more information about how you can participate, email Ruth Stegeman at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Toolkit for the Evaluation of Service-Learning Programs (2011)
This toolkit was developed from the evaluation tools and strategies that the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) presented to the Office of Budget and Management. The toolkit provides instruments to measure civic engagement and learning outcomes, and is divided into four sections: general evaluation guidelines, how to develop an evaluation for service-learning, design instruments and recruitment materials, and an annotated bibliography. Section 2.0, General Evaluation Guidelines, will be particularly useful for community partners as it discusses how the evaluation of service-learning programs can be useful to community partners, how to design an evaluation program, and how to conduct evaluation in a way that is meaningful to an organization or business.
