Dr. John Shinsky receives the Glenn A. Niemeyer Faculty Award

Dr. John Shinsky is a Professor in Educational Leadership and Department Chairperson for the Leadership and Learning unit in the College of Education. John has provided significant university leadership by facilitating the process for the approval of the Educational Specialist Degree by the North Central Association, which was considered a national model, led the efforts to obtain and implement a Wallace Grant for training aspiring principals in large urban school districts, and provided leadership for the successful accreditation review of six programs by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

John's research focus is in the area of technology and leadership where he has published articles, provided numerous national presentations, and initiated and developed the first Michigan Virtual Research Symposium for the Michigan Association of Professors of Education, highlighting current research projects throughout Michigan by making this information available to all educational leadership students and professors throughout Michigan. John's excellence and loyalty in the areas of leadership, teaching and scholarship have been significant.
