Join in the Fight Against Cancer - April 9-10

Relay for LifeSign up now to join the GVSU Alumni Association team in the 2010 American Cancer Society Relay for Life event at Grand Valley State University. Beginning at 6 p.m. on April 9 until 6 a.m. on April 10, walkers will take shifts circling the track in the Fieldhouse and collect money to help eliminate cancer. Panelists needed for 5 Under 25 Presentation

The Future Alumni Association is seeking five alumni under the age of 25 who are interested in sharing unique perspectives on life after graduation with current students. 5 Under 25 is scheduled for 7 p.m. on April 13 at the Alumni House and Visitor Center. If you are interested in imparting wisdom to current students on how to maximize their school experience, help prepare them for the working world, and life in general, please contact earleymi@gvsu.edu.

Alumni Couples Return to GVSU for Valentine's Celebration

Classic Pairings - Alumni Volunteer Celebration16 alumni couples were among the nearly 75 guests who returned to GVSU's Allendale campus on February 11 for Classic Pairings – Me and My Baby Down Route 66, a special alumni Valentine’s Day celebration. Grand Valley’s talented chefs created a gourmet menu for the affair, while a sommelier was on hand to provide information on wine pairings chosen for each of the courses. At the end of the evening, each alumni couple was provided with a framed, commemorative photograph taken of them during the event. View photos.

Nursing Graduates Sought to Speak at Upcoming Student Roundtable

Public Administration Alumni Gather at Annual Conference

Public Alumni Reception 2010Brooklyn Village Manager and Alumni Association Board Member, Victor Cardenas, ’00, hosted a gathering of Public Administration alumni, students, and faculty during the 2010 Michigan Local Government Management Association’s Winter Institute. The annual event was held February 3 in Grand Rapids. Attendees were joined by Dr. George Grant, Dean of GVSU’s College of Community and Public Service, who updated on the latest college news. The GVSU Hospitality and Tourism Management Department invites HTM alumni to "Throw for Dough" in support of the HTM program.   • Alumni who want to share their favorite Grand Valley memory can now do so by phone. Laker Lore has established a toll-free number as a way of recording memories for Grand Valley's 50th anniversary celebration. Sign up now for phone or in-person recording times.
  • Alumni are also being asked to share their Grand Valley memorabilia for a special anniversary exhibit. If you have a piece of history that you’re willing to share, submit an electronic image and description of each item. Be sure to include your contact information!

Grand Valley to Offer Michigan Certified Public Manager Program

GVSU has collaborated with Saginaw Valley State University to offer the Certified Public Manager Program in West Michigan. CPM is a nationally recognized and nationally accredited leadership development program for public managers and supervisors. The program consists of approximately 300 hours of instruction over a one year period, delivered primarily online and including five classroom sessions at the GVSU Holland Meijer campus.
