Undergraduate Research Opportunities at Van Andel Research Institute (VARI)

VARI research programs conduct biomedical research in cellular, molecular and genetic biology with a focus on cancer and Parkinson disease and an emphasis on translating scientific research results into clinical applications. See http://www.vai.org/research.aspx for details of research programs.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Summer Frederik and Lena Meijer Student Internship Program
This is designed to provide college students an opportunity to be mentored by professionals in their chosen field, use state-of-the-art equipment and technology, and learn valuable interpersonal and presentation skills. We expect to support 10-15 internships, depending on the needs of the Scientific Investigators.

You will gain: an understanding of research methods, instruments & testing

You will assist: in resolving problems in the execution of experiments

You will understand, recognize and properly perform & record established experimental procedures, and give an oral presentation about your experience to the research staff.

Guest Student Programs – Academic Credit
Educational opportunities for U.S. and international college and university students often become available year around. Academic credit is awarded through the student's home institution. The student must get approval from their home institution and complete a Guest Student Policy and Application form. Contact the Graduate School Office for details at gradschool@vai.org
