Below is a list of resources for students who are interested in applying to medical school (MD). This is not an exhaustive list of resources and it is recommended you meet with the Center frequently to discuss your overall progress and goals.

Fact Sheet The medical school fact sheet gives a basic outline of the requirements for medical school, including the national statistics for those admitted as well as suggestions for how to become a successful applicant.
Time -Line The AAMC has provided this useful tool to keep you on track during your undergraduate education. While this is a helpful resource, please realize some of you may not follow this document perfectly. We encourage you to meet with your faculty and academic advisors to help you specifically tailor an appropriate action plan.
Aspiring Docs Learn more about a new and innovative program created by the AAMC to attract more minority students to careers in medicine.

MCAT Information This is a link to the Medical College Admissions Test. Become familar with this page early in your career, and come back often.
AAMC The Association of American Medical Colleges distributes a significant amount of information pertaining to medical education. Please utilize this resource as you go through your undergraduate degree.  If you need information regarding Fee Assistance click here.
AMCAS The American Medical College Application Service is how students apply to US Allopathic (MD) medical schools, excluding Texas, which uses TMDSAS.
Pre-Medical Listserv Students are highly encouraged to signup for the listserv as soon as they make the decision to go premed. The listserv is the fastest way for us to get in contact with you about application information, speakers who are visiting campus, or medical school visits.
Volunteer Lists This list is not an exhaustive list of potential places to volunteer. It is highly recommend that you contact physicians early in your career to see about shadowing them and/or regularly volunteering in a clinical setting.
GVSU PreMed Club We encourage you to actively participate in the GVSU PreMed Club.


MD Application Information/Materials
File Waiver The File Waiver form is used to open up your application file in the CLAS Academic Advising Center. You may print the document to the left and bring it in to the Center, or click here for a Microsoft Word version of the document. With this option you will be able fill out the document electronically and email it to the premed advisor.
Medical Student Information Sheet As we prepare to write your Advisor's Cover Letter, this informational sheet provides additional information for us to more completely represent you to the medical school admissions committee. You may print the document to the left and bring it in to the Center, or click here for a Microsoft Word version of the document. With this option you will be able fill out the document electronically and email it to the premed advisor.
Letter of Recommendation Form It is strongly recommended that you provide a copy of this form to those individuals who will be submitting a letter of recommendation for you. Please remember to fill out the top portion of the form before you give it to your letter writers.
