2. West Michigan Undergraduate Science Research Conference (attachment)– Message from Mark Staves
Registration is now open for the West Michigan Undergraduate Science Research Conference which will be held on Saturday, October 31 at the Van Andel Institute in Grand Rapids (poster attached).
The conference is free but registration is mandatory please follow this link for registration: http://www.vai.org/undergrad-conf
The registration deadline is October 12. This year there is a place to upload an abstract and all registrants will receive an email confirmation of their registration.

3. Insurance Coverage for Personal Items – Message from Mick Doxey, Director of Business Services
A recent sprinkler problem in PAD caused damage in some faculty offices and raised questions as to what personal items are or are not covered by university insurance. According to Mike Doxey in the Business Office:
In general, personal items are not covered by University insurance. These should be covered by personal homeowners or other coverage.
With regard to damage as a result of an incident such as a fire or sprinkler malfunction, the University does have coverage for property of others. The people affected by the recent water incident have been asked for a list of damaged items by the Facilities team.
