1. Cayuse424 Training-March 23 (attachment) – Office of Sponsored Programs

Please see the attached memo and agenda regarding Cayuse424 training being offered on March 23, 2011 from 1 - 3 pm in Allendale.  Cayuse424 is the system-to-system web-based platform used by the Office of Sponsored Programs to interface with grants.gov for federal grant proposals.

We welcome those persons who are interested in grant submissions and who have not yet had this training to join us.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need any further information. Thank you,

Beverly J. Dickinson, Office of Sponsored Programs
Center for Scholarly & Creative Excellence

2. "Policy for Regular Faculty Engaged in Graduate Education" (attachment-Policy, attachment-Application) – Jeff Potteiger

Attached is the “Policy for Regular Faculty Engaged in Graduate Education and the electronic version of the application form.  We have set up the application form so that information can be typed in and so that electronic signatures can be dropped into the signature box.  After the CV is reviewed and the form is "signed" please send the forms electronically to our office at the following address: gradstudies@gvsu.edu

Our goal is to have unit heads and Academic Deans review the faculty applications by the end of the Winter 2011 semester.  Starting in the Spring/Summer 2011 semester the Office of Graduate Studies will issue a regular call and deadline for new graduate faculty applications.  Unit heads and deans should review all new applications prior to a faculty member delivering graduate education.

The Office of Graduate Studies is working on developing a procedure for this that would work through the MyApps software, but that process may not be completed until later this summer.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Jeffrey A. Potteiger, Ph.D., FACSM
Dean of Graduate Studies

The transfer dates, those specific to CLAS and the All College events, were listed on the handout I provided at the UH meeting last week. I've attached that handout in case it's needed.

I have also attached the information we discussed about the writing placement for our international students. I'm not sure who created the document, but this is what we've been asked to send to the students as they prepare for registration. I'd welcome some feedback or recommendations. Thanks!
