1.  Retiree Web site – message from Scott Richardson

The following message was received from Scott Richardson about this new web site. We encourage Unit Heads to have a look at the link and provide retiree news to HRO when it comes to their attention.

*************

GVSU has a new website developed to strengthen communications and services to our emeriti and retired faculty and staff.  www.gvsu.edu/retiree/  will be announced to retirees this week by mail.

Why am I writing you?

1.  Wanted you to see the site and its contents for far.

2.  Wanted to ask you to let HR know of upcoming events in your college that would be of interest to the general retiree community.   Please have your staff email Human Resources, GVSU hro@gvsu.edu with events and news items.

3.  We hope to create from this a mailing directory so we can push out an email to retirees by mailing location and department, giving us the ability to send them events and news announcements.  This will depend on lots of retirees enrolling on the site.  This may be a feature your might want to use in the future.

We want to keep this site interesting enough that a retiree might check it out occasionally and are dependent on suggestions for news and events from your staff to do that.  Please help us out.  Thanks.

~Scott

3. Final Exam Week-message from Mary Schutten

Dear Colleagues,

As the semester draws to a close I would like to send a reminder about the policy for final exams.  Please remind your faculty that all classes must meet for a culminating experience during final exam week, on the appropriate scheduled exam day and time. In the event that the course structure involves a take home final, the due date for submission of this exam should be the scheduled exam day and time.

Both the Provost and the Dean expect strict compliance with this policy, and unit heads will be held accountable for any faculty member that does not meet his or her classes. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Thank you for supporting this policy by reminding your faculty.

~Mary
