  1. Warm Up Grand Rapids (attachments:  drop offWarm Up) – message from Noreen Savage

Warm Up Grand Rapids is a blanket drive to help the homeless of our community.  Last year it is estimated that there were over 13,000 homeless in the West Michigan areas of Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Kalamazoo, Ottawa and Allegan counties.  Grand Rapids made up half of that number.  As the weather is increasingly getting colder, now is the time that we can make a difference.

ANY clean (must be clean) blankets accepted!!! (new, used, big, small, frayed, fleece, crocheted, etc.)  Many of us have blankets stored away that we never use.  Here is a chance to help someone and put them to use.

Donation Dates: Oct 26- Nov 6

Distribution Day: Nov 8

Please see www.warmupgrandrapids.com for drop-off locations.  Blankets will be picked up daily from these drop-off sites.

This link is to a video that explains more about Warm Up Grand Rapids:

If you are interested in donating warm beverages and snacks for the distribution day; volunteering to pick up blankets; or if you are a business/organization who would like to be a blanket collection center, please let us know.  Email:  warmupgrandrapids@yahoo.com

Thank you!

2.  Midterm Grade Reports— from Betty Schaner and Mary Schutten

Midterm grade reports have been processed and CLAS Academic Advising Center (CAAC) has some data to share. Letters from CAAC inviting students to come for some advising have gone out to 322 CLAS students with midterm grades < 2.0, 12 of these students have a GPA of 0.0. These 12 will be receiving more personal attention from CAAC. Some of these students are first year, some are on probation and others are in jeopardy of dismissal. If you are also interested in trying to help your majors who are struggling, please contact CAAC (1-8585) for the information.
