3. Nationally Competitive Awards for Science, Math and Engineering Students Information Session- Office of Fellowships

We will share information about nationally competitive funding opportunities for summer research, education and study abroad, and discuss the next steps required to pursue such opportunities. Programs to be briefly introduced include the Morris K. Udall Scholarship, the Amgen Scholars Summer Research Program in Science and Biotechnology, the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, the DoD SMART Scholarship, and more. A full description and links to all of these opportunities can be found on the Office of Fellowships website www.gvsu.edu/fellowship, under the Award Opportunities tab, click Math, Science & Engineering.

To kick off Campus Sustainability Week we have a speaker from Ghana that will tell his incredible story; from the time he was sold by his parents into slavery, to his escape, and finally his battle to ban the practice. 5. Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest 2011 –deadline 12-6, 2010 – Office of Fellowships
Please share with GVSU registered undergraduate full-time juniors or seniors in your respective area(s). All disciplines are eligible.
The Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest 2011 is accepting submissions from students across the U.S. through December 6, 2010. The first prize winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize. As part of the submission of materials, students must submit a completed entry form signed by both the student and faculty sponsor and a letter from the Registrar's Office (on school stationary, verifying eligibility). Applicants should plan accordingly.

6. Summer Faculty Exchange Program Opportunity (attachment) – Gary Stark
CLAS faculty who are interested in teaching in the summer faculty exchange program with the University of Education in Schwäbisch-Gmünd, Germany, should complete the attached application and submit it to the Dean's office by November 19.
