The Audio Production 1 class (CBR 281) is looking for on-campus public events we can record during the first half of the winter semester. We will come to your event with a state of the art digital audio recorder and make a high quality recording of your event. You will receive a copy of the recording on CD and in MP3 format.
If your department is programming a lecture, performance, or panel discussion that could be recorded in the first half of this semester, please contact John Schmit at schmitj@gvsu.edu

These grants support national faculty development programs in the humanities for school teachers, and for college and university teachers. Seminars and institutes may be as short as two weeks or as long as six weeks. The duration of a program should allow for full and thorough treatment of the topic.
Due date: March 3, 2008
Julie Guevara, in putting together the NCA Accreditation Report, has requested that CLAS provide a list of our faculty's top scholarly accomplishments over the last five years: She wants 20 examples of the best CLAS scholarship over the last 5 years: books from distinguished presses, articles placed in leading journals and oft-cited, textbooks that are used at other universities, grants that made a significant difference, etc. I'm asking for between two and four examples from every department. Please email them to Cindy Laug under the title "NCA Scholarship Examples." Please send them along by Friday, January 11, 2008, please.

As the faculty representative to the GVSU Alumni Association, I would like to encourage everyone to consider nominating a former student for the newest Young Alumni Award. I am sure each of us can think of a recent GVSU graduate who is highly deserving of recognition for his or her outstanding personal and professional accomplishments. If you are in contact with a former student who is off to a quick and impressive start on his or her career path please help us recognize their notable accomplishments! IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO NOMINATE!!
Nominations are currently being accepted for the new GVSU Alumni Association Young Alumni Award. The award recognizes alumni who have made outstanding contributions to society, and whose accomplishments and careers reflect favorably upon Grand Valley. Nominations may be made by alumni, faculty, or staff and must be received by January 14, 2008. Simply complete an online nomination form at http://www.gvsu.edu/alumni/?fuseaction=home.young_alumni_nominate, or call (616) 331-3590 . Please, start off the new year by celebrating the successes of your former students.
Sincerely,
Kathleen A. Bailey
