For Faculty

1. Putting the green in next generation science standards

CLAS 10th Anniversary Celebration is proud to announce:

This is a series of green chemistry events aimed at K-12 science teachers hosted by the GVSU Chemistry Department, the Regional Math and Science Center, and the Michigan Green Chemistry Clearinghouse. The series will focus on supporting K-12 teachers in developing lesson plans and activities that integrate green chemistry and sustainability into teaching and learning in their classrooms. Included will be discussions on how Green Chemistry concepts relate to the NGSS: Next Generation Science Standards (pending adoption).  The primary objectives of these sessions will be to:

  • increase awareness in K-12 education about green and sustainable chemistry
  • form communities of teachers who are interested in green chemistry
  • encourage collaboration to develop green chemistry curriculum.

The Program will be held August 13, 2013, 8:30am-3:30pm, PAD 107.   Contact: Dalila Kovacs and Andrew Lantz.  For more background information about the program, checkout the first in a series of webinars, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkvEV-h6MI0&feature=youtu.be
