On May 13, 2014 Dr. Tony England, a former astronaut with Apollo, Skylab, Challenger and International Space Station experience, and now Dean at UM-Dearborn will connect with us from Dearborn.  Meeting with us in person on the Allendale campus will be Dr. Katie Freese, U of M Professor of Physics, one of the world's leading astrophysicists and cosmologists, and an expert on the Big Bang.  Both will be sharing with us pictures from their incredible journeys and research, and talking about the importance of STEM education.  We hope that you will join us and meet Katie on May 13th.   For more details, go to

3. Call for Volunteers

The College Office requests that Unit Heads consider allowing staff members to volunteer to assist at the CLAS on the Green golf outing on June 18 if they wish.  Staff members sometimes ask if they must take vacation time to provide this service to the college as we work toward an endowed scholarship for CLAS students.  We encourage you to allow your interested staff to select a suitable shift  (11:00am-3:30pm or 3:00pm to 7:00pm  includes the cookout) as part of your department's support of this scholarship building effort.  Thank you for considering this.

Original call for volunteers:   Seeking Volunteers-Must care about students and like the fresh air
