When a faculty member assigns an incomplete grade to a student, an incomplete grade form (attachment) must also be completed. New this year (2013-14), the CLAS Dean's Office has provided an electronic incomplete grade form that replaces the former paper form. Directions are attached for your use and we want to highlight the additions to this form- faculty must include: a date of last academic activity (LDAA); the grade that would be earned if the student does not complete the work (default grade); and electronic submission of the form via an email attachment. If you have further questions, please contact Roxanne Mol or Mary Schutten.
2. Directions for accessing the up-to-date faculty advisee list (attachment) - Mary Schutten
The CLAS Academic Advising Center has created a helpful reference for accessing the most current faculty advisee lists (attachment). The list is provided for your information and use.
If you know a recent GVSU graduate who does outstanding things in their community and whose accomplishments and careers have gone beyond the call of duty, let us know! Nominate them for the Young Alumni Award before April 25, 2014. The winner will be awarded at the commencement ceremony on December 6, 2014. For information, contact Alumni Relations at email@example.com .
This is a reminder that GVSU's 2nd Big Data Conference is on April 25. The conference will feature keynote addresses on ethics in data collection, and the challenges associated with data on capital crimes. For more information, and to register (free!): www.gvsu.edu/bigdata. If you have any questions about the conference, please contact Ed Aboufadel in Mathematics/Biomedical Sciences.
For Unit Heads
Recently, the Provost's office sent out a survey to Unit Heads to find out about faculty in your department who are working on Big Data scholarship that may need computing or other resources. If you have not completed the survey yet, the deadline for the survey is April 25, and here is the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WQMRYKN. If you have questions about this survey, please contact Paul Stephenson in Statistics.
Please remind faculty, if they are going away for part or all of the summer, they should put messages to that effect on their phone and email, and refer the student to the department office.
