CLAS Staff Roundtables

CLAS Staff Roundtables will be an annual event to provide an opportunity for staff to share and exchange ideas on a variety of topics that are relevant and of interest to them.
At this first event, we will have four roundtables on the following topics with one or more facilitator at each table. You are invited to attend one or both sessions, based on your availability. Please sign up for a roundtable topic for the first session and a different one for the second session.
- Chicken Salad on Wheatberry Bread with Lettuce & Cucumber
- Roasted Corn Black Bean Salad on Sundried Tomato Wraps with Fresh Avocado, Tomato, Lettuce, & Tequila Lime Dressing (Vegan/Vegetarian)
- Warm Con Queso Dip with Cilantro & Cheddar, Warm Fried Tortilla Chips
- Fresh Made Guacamole Dip with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Lime, Garlic & Cilantro
- Dessert Kabobs (Strawberry, Pineapple, & Pound Cake) with Dark Chocolate Dipping Sauce
- Ice Water & Lemonade
Topics for Staff Roundtables:
Roundtable 1. Tracking faculty professional development funds
Facilitators: Jennifer Glaab and Laurie Martinie
Share ways for staff to track and monitor faculty professional development funds and ensuring reimbursement in a timely manner.
Roundtable 2. Developing a better system for motor vehicle rental
Facilitators: Connie Ingham and Janet Potgeter
Discuss problems with current procedures and processes for motor vehicle rental and brainstorm ideas for developing a better system.
Roundtable 3. Student whisperer: responding to students with concerns
Facilitators: Roxanne Mol and Michelle Duram
Discuss strategies for addressing student questions and issues. How best to respond to students when they show up unexpectedly in your department office?
Roundtable 4. Tracking and monitoring department budgets
Facilitators: Deb Rotman and Reda DeYoung
Share ideas for tracking and monitoring department budgets and developing graphs and charts to help unit heads, faculty, and staff understand their budgets.
