Dr. Ross was born in Drexal Hill, Pennsylvania, grew up in suburb outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and did her undergraduate work at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida.  She received her B.A. in sociology with a concentration in criminology in 1990.  Her M.S. in criminal justice was completed at Northeastern University in 1992.  Her Ph.D. in criminal justice was completed at Rutgers University in 1999.  Prior to coming to GVSU she taught at the University of Central Florida and Buffalo State College.  Dr. Ross’ research and writing has been in two dominant areas: white-collar and corporate crime, specifically environmental crime and identity theft and criminal justice curriculum issues.  Dr. Ross is the Director of the Criminal Justice Graduate Program (MCJ) at GVSU and advises all of the MCJ graduate students.  Dr. Ross’ teaching at GVSU typically includes courses on graduate and undergraduate research methods, policy and program evaluation, crimes against women, white-collar crime, senior capstone, and introduction to criminal justice.
