Legacy Ball Scholarship Available

The Legacy Ball Scholarship was established in 2009 by the Legacy Ball Committee and is
awarded to one African-American high school student and one college student of any age. The
award is to provide financial assistance to the recipient in their pursuit of an undergraduate
degree at an accredited secondary institution. It also honors students for their academic work and their contributions to their school and home communities. Each scholarship is in the amount of $1000.00 and is a one-time award. 

The 2013 scholarship program will seek to award two (2) winners at $1000.00 each. The winners will be announced and awarded on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Legacy Ball, which will be held at the JW Marriott downtown Grand Rapids. The amount of the award will be paid to the recipient at the time of ceremony – availability and attendance for the event is required.

*Must be in good standing (2.8 GPA)
*Can only be a one-time recipient

Applicants must present an essay (1000 words or less) on an African-American person whose
work you admire and how YOU are currently carrying out his/her legacy in the community
and/or with others. All essays must be typed and double-spaced.
