Center for Entrepreneurship

The Center for Entrepreneurship at the Seidman College of Business serves to promote, preserve, influence, and impact students, faculty, and the community through quality academic research, curriculum development, and information services in the field of entrepreneurship. The center fosters interaction within various workshops and seminars, as well as through coordination of programs with local business organizations. The center is a catalyst in the cross-disciplinary

development of research and curriculum throughout the university serving to bring business and non-business faculty and students together to foster the transfer of ideas into commercialized ventures.

Through hands-on practical application and an educational program that encompasses many different learning styles, students learn to apply their passion to their major and turn a creative idea into the ability to be their own boss.

The Entrepreneurship program offers classes in Allendale, as well as at the DeVos Center, located in downtown Grand Rapids. Spreading the curriculum between the two campuses allows students the traditional University setting along with the excitement of being part of the thriving downtown atmosphere.

Along with the Family Owned Business

Institute, we have compiled vast amounts of information, from research articles to books to studies of actual entrepreneurial ventures.

The Center for Entrepreneurship is responsible for several events held annually, such as the Idea Pitch Competition, where student finalists present their individual 90-second idea pitch. The program also features current members and alumni of Grand Valley’s C.E.O Club discussing their business and community activities. We also host the Business Plan Competition, which seeks to provide the participating undergraduate students with forums in which they develop skills in pitching their ventures to investors and gives a monetary award for the "winning" student.

The Center for Entrepreneurship’s staff is here to help in making

your dreams into a positive future.
