Tips on pitching your idea

Date: October 29, 2009

Sandwiched between the 5th Annual Idea Pitch Competition at Grand Valley State University and the first ever Regional Idea Pitch Competition, featuring the top-3 winners from GVSU, Davenport University and Aquinas College, now is smack dab in the middle of Idea Pitch Season in West Michigan.

Pitching your idea is a crucial talent for any entrepreneur.  No matter how incredibly fantastic your idea is -- even if your colleagues agree with you that it rocks -- you won't get very far with a Venture Capitalist (VC) or funder if you can't convincingly describe your idea, and exactly why it rocks, in a very short period of time.

Pitching is a muscle, and like any other muscle it requires practice.  But on top of that, it requires preparation.  The catch-22 here is that many times pitching is done spur of the moment, without any preparation.  So what's really needed is a constant preparation, so that whenever the opportunity arises, you've got your proverbial guns loaded.

Here are some awesome tips to make sure that you are prepared for that crucial pitch, from Social Edge.  Some heavy-grade ammo for those guns.

Just make sure to point them the right way.
