Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization
Date: April 23, 2008
The Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO) is a non-profit student group designed to foster the entrepreneurial spirit within Grand Valley State University and the Grand Rapids Community.
It teaches students from varying business and non-business majors the skills and processes required to develop a successful enterprise. In fact, peek into a weekly CEO General Assembly and you will find just as many biology, computer science, history, and education majors as there are marketing, finance, accounting, or management majors in attendance.
CEO at Grand Valley is part of a nationwide organization which grooms start-up business fundamentals and builds student interest in entrepreneurship by hosting speakers, attending national conferences, providing instruction on how to write a business plan, touring the facilities of local corporations, and engaging in new product development projects. CEO has also participated in several community volunteer efforts with the Grand Rapids Jaycees, Big Brother/Big Sister, Junior Achievement, and the American Cancer Society. The organization was started in 2000, and has quadrupled in membership over just the past semester due to the recent success and publicity of its last major project, a Grand Rapids edition of the popular Monopoly board game.
