Seidman Alumni Breakfast Series
The Seidman Alumni Association extends complimentary invitations to Seidman Alumni, the University community, and the West Michigan business community to attend breakfast meetings featuring speakers on a variety of business-related topics. Anywhere between 150 and 250 individuals attend each breakfast.
Celebrating the accomplishments of alumni is rewarding for the Seidman College of Business as well as its honorees. Following are the outstanding Seidman alumni who have been recognized and their accomplishments at the time of recognition.
Daniel L. Carter: Accomplished in a Chosen Field. He earned his MST in 1984.
Frank D. Foster: Up and Coming. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in 2009.
Barry Klein: Accomplished in a Chosen Field. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in 1988.
John H. Bultema III: Professional Achievement. He earned his B.B.A. in Finance in 1995 and his M.B.A. from Western Michigan University.
Pastor Dennis J. McMurray: Community Commitment Award. He earned his B.B.A. in Marketing in 1985.
Brad Knoth: Successful Entrepreneur Award. He earned his B.B.A. in General Business with a Marketing minor in 1989.
Dixie Anderson: Professional Achievement Award. She earned her B.S in 1972 and her M.B.A. in 1978.
Beverly Wall: Professional Achievement Award. Languages International. She earned her M.B.A. in 1987.
Brian Small: Up and Coming Professional Award. Whirlpool Corporation. He earned his B.B.A. in 2005
Gordon Oosting: Professional Achievement Award. Senior Vice President, Mercantile Bank. He earned a B.S. in 1972 and a M.B.A 1980.
John R. Green: Professional Achievement Award. President, Medical Business Unit, Oliver Products. He earned his MBA in 1985.
Phil Koning: Professional Achievement Award. CEO Macatawa Bank. He received his B.B.A. in 1975 and his M.B.A. in 1983.
Jason L. Paulateer: Up and Coming Professional Award. Executive Director, National City Community Development Association of Michigan. He earned his B.B.A. in 1996 and his M.B.A. in 2005.
Kathleen B. Vogelsang: Professional Achievement Award. Director of Investments, Van Andel Institute. She received her BBA in 1995, Magna Cum Laude, and her MBA in 1999
Dick H. VanBelzen: Distinguished Career. Managing Director, Northpoint Advisors. He received his B.B.A. in 1978.
James Gillette: Professional Achievement Award. Director of Supplier Analysis, CSM Worldwide and Adjunct Professor in the Finance Department. He earned his B.S. in 1969 and his M.B.A. in 1981.
Victor Shepherd, Jr.: Outstanding Entrepreneur Award. Chairman and CEO of the Iserv Company in Grand Rapids. He also serves on the Grand Valley State University Foundation Board of Trustees. He earned his B.B.A. in 1980.
Dennis Betten: Community Commitment Award. He earned his B.B.A. in 1981.
Gary Tilkin: Successful Entrepreneur Award.
Dennis Hoffman: Professional Achievement Award. He earned his B.S. in 1974, and an M.B.A. and Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
Robert Bockheim: Professional Achievement Award. President and CEO of Nucraft Furniture. He earned his M.B.A. in 1982.
Anita Hollander: Ph.D., Distinguished Career Award. Carnegie Pew Scholar and visiting faculty at University of Tennessee-Knoxville and University of Tulsa. She received her B.B.A. in 1981.
Shelley (Clark) Huard: Up and Coming Professional Award. International Sales & Product Coordinator at Wolverine Worldwide. She received her B.B.A. in 1998.
Patrick Brewer and Jeffrey Brewer: Successful Next Generation Family Business. Patrick is President and Owner, and Jeffrey is CEO and Owner of Grandville Printing Co. They received their business degrees in 1975 and 1977, respectively.
Laurie Beard: Professional Achievement Award. President and CEO of Founders Trust Personal Bank, Laurie earned her M.B.A. from Grand Valley in 1981.
Doyle Hayes: Community Service Award. President and CEO of Pyper Products, Doyle received his B.S. in Economics in 1975. He chaired the fund drive for United Way for Kent County 2000 and serves on numerous boards.
Juanita Briggs: Outstanding Entrepreneur Award. President of four companies serving the furniture industry, Valor Industries, Integricoat, Inc., Valor Boxes, Inc., and Valor-Nicholas, Inc., Juanita earned her B.B.A. from Grand Valley in 1992.
Kalyn Redlowsk: Up and Coming Professional Award. Kalyn received her B.B.A. from Grand Valley in 1998 and recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University. She received three book awards - given to the best student in the class - while attending MSU.
Bill Smith: Outstanding Entrepreneur Award. Bill started 2 local companies, currently serving as the President of the CompuCraft, Inc., where many of his employees are Grand Valley graduates. He was awarded his M.B.A. in 1985.
Diane Rodenhouse: Non-Traditional Achievement Award. Diane owns and operates Rodenhouse Body Shop while serving as President and Chairman of the Board of the West Michigan Body Shop Association. She received her B.S. in Economics in 1990.
John Folkert: Up and Coming Accomplishments. John is a top salesperson with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. He was ranked number 3 nationally for new associates and ranked number one in the Central U.S. in 1996. He is currently number 42 out of all 7,500 national representatives. John graduated with a B.B.A. in 1993.
Ray DeWinkle: Outstanding Community Service Award. Ray is active in Great Lakes Venture Quest, Michigan Economic Developers Association, Junior Achievement, and the Grand Rapids area Chamber of Commerce, among other organizations. He received his B.B.A. in 1998.
Sharon Buursma: Outstanding Distinguished Career. Sharon is Executive Vice President at Spectrum Health and former President and CEO at Visiting Nurse Association of Western Michigan. She received her M.B.A. in 1990.
Sharron Reynolds: Community Commitment. Sharron is the Director for the Office of Stewardship and Communications for the Diocese of Grand Rapids. She received her M.B.A. in 1993.
Peter Mayhak: Young Alumnus. Peter is President and CEO of n Vision/usa. He earned his B.B.A.in 1991.
Steve Peterson: Professional Achievement. Steve is currently the Vice President of Finance and CFO of Cascade Engineering. He was awarded his M.B.A. degree in 1980.
Tim Morris: Outstanding Entrepreneur. Tim is President and CEO of Exhibit Design, and graduated with his B.B.A. in 1988.
Frank Nagy: Distinguished Career. Frank is President and CEO of Strategic Insights, Inc. He received his M.B.A. in 1983.
Valerie Overheul: Valerie is the founder and CEO of Summit Training Source. Her company is the largest producer in the world of industrial safety training videos. She received her B.B.A. degree with a major in marketing, with honors, in 1977.
Vicki TenHaken: Vice President of the Home Office Division at Herman Miller. She received her M.B.A. in 1981.
Mary Jo Braun: Vice President of Corporate Planning at Michigan Consolidated Gas Company in Detroit. She received her M.B.A. in 1977.
Doug Crim: Managing Partner at Miller, Canfield, Paddock, and Stone, P.L.C., where he also serves as both environmental counselor and litigator. He received his B.B.A. in 1981.
Joe Snowden: President of Cannon-Muskegon Corporation, the largest air melt manufacturer of super alloys produced by investment casting. He received his M.B.A. in 1991.
The 1996 Outstanding Alumni were members of the first Seidman graduating class, the M.B.A. class of 1975. This was the first year outstanding alumni were recognized at a banquet hosted by the newly formed Seidman Alumni Association.
Wayne Kramer: Wayne is Chief Internal Auditor and Compliance Officer of KaWah Bank.
Ron LaMange: Ron is Controller and CFO of Burke Porter Machinery.
Henry Veenstra: Henry is President of Zeeland Hospital.
Tom Werkema: Tom is Director of Regulatory Affairs, Industrial Chemical Group for Autochem North America, Inc.
