Patrick Johnson, Assistant Director of the Fred Meijer Center for Writing and Michigan Authors, received the AP Commitment to Students Award.

Patrick Fuliang Shan, Coordinator of East Asian Studies and Chinese Studies, wrote a book, Taming China’s Wilderness: Immigration, Settlement and the Shaping of the Heilongjiang Frontier, 1900-1931, published by Ashgate Publishing.

Brent Smith, Associate Professor of Liberal Studies, gave a presentation, “An Undisciplined Space: Interdisciplinary as a Method for Studying Religion,” at the Midwest American Academy of Religion Annual Conference.

Kathleen Underwood, Associate Professor of Women and Gender Studies, received the Outstanding Advisor Award from Student Life for serving as an advisor to Iota Iota Iota.

Jonathan White, Professor of Liberal Studies, Honors College, was interviewed by CNN for a story about Odinism in the Frazier Glenn Cross case.
