Experiences: A Lost Innocence: The Forgotten Children of Central America

Date and Time

Tuesday, September 23, 2014 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Description

Presentation by LAS Minor, Michelle Alderink

Not every child receives the love and protection they deserve. Declared a Humanitarian Crisis by the United Nations and the Obama Administration, the surge of children fleeing from Central America to the United States has gained national attention. This presentation will focus on these children's lost childhood innocence in terms of the escalated violence in their home countries, their journey through Mexico, and even life here in the United States. Come learn about how these children have lost their ability to simply be children as well as how they are being left vulnerable and forgotten by those who ultimately decide their fate.

No RSVP is necessary – open to the GVSU community.
