Local Food, Global Action
October 9, 2013
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Location: Manitou Hall Room 123
We are experiencing unprecedented growth in consumer demand for food with meaning. In “Local Food: Global Action,” Timothy Young will tell the story of how his northern Michigan company, Food For Thought, has joined forces with others that have turned their local food companies into agencies of change, supporting local organic agriculture, farmland preservation, and social justice issues around the world. Through their non-profit, On The Ground, they have used the mediums of music, film and direct action to dig wells in Mexico, build schools in Ethiopia and plant thousands of olive trees in Palestine. Come hear about Tim’s work to counter the global industrial food system and for social justice on an international and local level.
