Masters Degree in Biomedical Science

Program Description

Health care professionals face ever-increasing educational demands to stay abreast of the rapidly changing world of medicine. An information explosion, coupled with rising expectations of health care employers and the desire of health care workers for upward mobility, has created a demand for graduate educational programs in health sciences. The Master of Biomedical Sciences program at Grand Valley is intended to provide additional academic background for health care workers and allow them to expand their skills.

Our program recognizes that many of our graduate students will wish to pursue their course work while continuing their employment. Therefore, many of the courses are offered in the late afternoon or early evening.

Admission Requirements

The Master of Biomedical Sciences (B.M.S.) program is open to qualified individuals with a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B) in all undergraduate course work to be considered for admission to the program. Admission is based on aptitude, work experience, and capacity for study as indicated by previous academic records.

Applicants who are baccalaureate-prepared physical therapists should contact the Physical Therapy Department for information on a Master in Biomedical Sciences with an emphasis in Physical Therapy.

Degree-seeking applicants must submit the following materials:

  1. A $30 nonrefundable application fee (unless you have previously applied to Grand Valley and paid this fee).
  2. A completed application.
  3. An official transcript from each undergraduate and graduate institution you have attended.
  4. Names of three references.
