BATTLE OF THE VALLEYS
Welcome to Battle of the Valleys 2008! Started in 2003, Battle of the Valleys is a competition between Grand Valley State University and rival Saginaw Valley State University to see which institution can raise more money for a local charity throughout the course of one week. Each University may only collect funds during the week of the event, which is the week proceeding the GVSU vs. SVSU football game.
Battle of the Valleys raises money for local charities by capitalizing on the interest in the annual football game between the two rival schools. Grand Valley State University won the fundraising battle in its initial year, but the trophy had remained with Saginaw Valley for the past two years until it was reclaimed in 2006.
Campfire USA
This year the proceeds are being raised to support Campfire USA, a national co-educational youth development agency serving boys and girls from kindergarten through high school. Since 1910, they have been meeting the changing needs of children and youth across the country.
