Beta Weekly - Week of March 15, 2015

Hello everyone!

Last Thursday (top)
Last week, we had several speakers from Whirlpool come and talk about their careers and opportunities at Whirlpool. Hopefully, you learned something new and got to network with the company.

This Thursday (top)
This week, Mike Stornant from Wolverine is going to come and speak at our meeting. It will be in our usual room, SCB 1008, at 6pm. The dress is, as always, business casual, which means no jeans.

Community Service (top)

Sign up to go to Comprenew this Friday, March 20! We will be going from noon-5 pm. It's okay if you can't stay the entire time, but it's important that you're there at noon to sign a waiver and be given instructions. There will be a carpool leaving Seidman at 11:45 am.

Everyone needs 10 hours of community service hours this semester. 5 must be with Beta and 5 can be with Beta or on your own time. Currently, the only remaining Beta opportunities will be 1 hour at our next Social (so, everyone will get 1 hour), and 3 hours at the Accounting Awards Banquet (However, a very limited number of people are needed).

If you think you need more Beta hours, email Sarah ASAP!!! She will set up another group opportunity if enough people need more hours. The volunteer hours should be updated on our website soon, but very few people have actually logged their hours with Sarah, so it's difficult to know how accurate the hours record is.

To have your hours recorded and have any volunteer-related questions answered, email Sarah at pales@mail.gvsu.edu.

Weekend in Indianapolis (top)
The Beta Alpha Psi Regional conference is at the Hilton in Indianapolis fromMarch 26 to March 28. GVSU is a hosting chapter and needs 8-10 pledges/members to volunteer at the conference. We will be responsible for setting up registration, speakers, etc. This is an all expense paid trip to Indianapolis for a weekend with some fun activities planned, including heading out to dinner/downtown Indianapolis. There will also be partners from big 4/regional accounting firms, which allows an excellent networking opportunity. Volunteer hours will count towards semester hours. If you are interested please contact Tom Schumar (tomschumar@gmail.com).

Have an awesome week! See you Thursday!
