2012 ASD numbers

Based on statistics from the U.S. Department of Education and other governmental agencies, the number of individuals diagnosed with ASD has been estimated to be growing nationally at a rate of 10 to 17 percent a year.

Data from the Michigan Department of Education indicates that in 1990, 1,203 children between the ages of birth to 26 identified with ASD were receiving special education services, whereas by January 2012, 16,591 children were receiving services under the ASD eligibility label.
