"Music for Flute and Keyboards" will feature Christopher Kantner, flute; Julianne Vanden Wyngaard, piano; and Greg Secor, marimba.
Since joining the Grand Rapids Symphony as principal flutist in 1976, Kantner has made numerous solo appearances with the orchestra, playing works of Bach, Mozart, Lucas Foss, Nielsen, Martin, and Schoenfield. His work as a soloist and chamber player is well known to Michigan audiences through his association with the Fontana Ensemble and as a charter member of Baroque and Beyond, the Mackinac Trio, and the Hartwick Duo. Kantner is an affiliate professor of music at Grand Valley.
A noted concert pianist, Julianne Vanden Wyngaard joined Grand Valley's music faculty in 1967. Her work at Grand Valley has included both piano studio and classroom teaching, management of the Arts at Noon Series, unit head for the music department for 12 years, and as the University Carillonneur. Percussionist Greg Secor is an adjunct professor of music at Grand Valley.
