Gijsbert Kok studied organ, church music, improvisation, and music theory at The Hague Royal Conservatory and the conservatories of Rotterdam and Tillburg. He is city carillonneur at The Hague, Voorschoten, and Zoetermeer. He teaches carillon and music theory at the Netherlands Carillon School in Amersfoort and the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam. He is active as a church organist in the Domker in De Lier and the American Protestant Church of The Hague.

The 19th Annual Cook Carillon International Concert Series runs Sundays, at 8 p.m., from June 23-August 18 on the Allendale Campus.
The 13th Annual Beckering Family Carillon International Concert Series runs Wednesdays, at noon, from July 10-31, on the Lacks International Plaza, DeVos Center, on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus.
