Theatre at Grand Valley presents 'The Good Person of Setzuan'
Saturday, April 6, 2013
Louis Armstrong Theatre, Performing Arts Center, GVSU Allendale Campus
The eternal struggle between selfishness and charity is played out in this production of "The Good Person of Setzuan." Written by the German theatre practitioner Bertolt Brecht in the 1940s, the play examines the impact of capitalism on human relationships and the social response to idealistic altruism.
Three gods go in search of people living the principles they have handed down, but instead find only greed, evil, dishonesty and selfishness, until they meet Shen Teh. Will goodness and compassion survive amid crime and greed?
