Description
A reading by "Sandi" Wisenberg, the author of the short story collection, "The Sweetheart is In" and the essay collection, "Holocaust Girls: History, Memory & Other Obsessions." In March 2009 the University of Iowa Press will publish her nonfiction book, "The Adventures of Cancer Bitch," based on her Cancer Bitch blog.
The co-director of the MA/MFA Creative Writing program at Northwestern University also teaches at the University of Chicago Graham School of General Studies. Wisenberg earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern, and an MFA in fiction from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop.
She's won a Pushcart Prize and has been the recipient of grants and awards from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Illinois Arts Council and National Endowment for the Humanities. She was the graduate faculty recipient of the 2006-2007 Distinguished Teaching Award, presented by Northwestern University's School of Continuing Studies.
