Posada Broadsides

José Guadalupe Posada was born in Mexico in 1850. As a young man he learned the art of lithography and up until his death produced satirical lithographs and engravings reflecting current events that were often critical of the government and upper classes. His most recognizable images of calaveras (skeletons) are used in Day of the Dead festivities to this day.
