Title: Enduring Traditions: History and Meaning in Selections from the Dates: Monday, January 11, 2010 - Friday, March 19 Opening Reception: Thursday, January 14, 2010 Description: Over one hundred years ago pottery making by Pueblo Indians in the American Southwest was transformed from the manufacture of utilitarian objects for everyday use to craft production for the tourist trade. Featured in this exhibition are distinctive ceramics from several pueblos, collected in the late 19th through the mid 20th century, including works by Maria Martinez, one of the most famous Native American potters of the 20th century. Exhibition and reception is free and open to the public. Gallery located in the Performing Arts Center, Allendale Campus. Visitor parking available in the Kirkhof lot. West Gallery in Eberhard Center 2010 On view January to April Brita Brookes Brita Brookes Native American Photography will be featured in the fourth of a planned series of small exhibitions showcasing the work of Michigan artists on the Robert C. Pew Grand Rapids Campus. Faculty/Staff Dining in the Kirkhof Center 2010 On view January to April Alynn Guerra Printmaker Alynn Guerra will be featured in a planned series of small exhibitions showcasing the work of local artists. Red Wall Gallery 2010: April - June "Student Scholarship/Fish Ladder Exhibition Watch for these exhibits in Lake Ontario Hall, Allendale Campus In addition, Grand Valley continues to showcase the works of graduating seniors in a series of one and two week exhibits at the end of each semester and displays art on a rotating basis at several campus-wide exhibition spaces.
