Students can pursue a variety of degrees that meet their educational goals and professional interests.
The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), and Bachelor of Science (B.S.), degrees in Studio Art offer an introduction to the diversity of practices of the visual arts. Students who would like to explore making visual media as a complement to their primary major can choose a Studio Art Minor at GVSU.

Majors desiring a more specialized curriculum to prepare them for professional work or graduate study can earn Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree. Students can choose an emphasis in ceramics, graphic design, illustration, jewelry and metalsmithing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and visual studies.
The art education program offers students the choice of either a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and leads to teacher certification for visual art at the primary and secondary levels in the Michigan public schools. Emphasis areas in Art Education include: Ceramics, Jewelry (Metalsmithing), Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Visual Studies.
Students can also earn a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree or a minor in art history at GVSU. The program encourages investigation of the historical and cultural contexts for the production and interpretation of visual media.
