It is the goal of the painting program to shape the development of thoughtful,
capable, inventive painters. We seek to contribute to the development of
artists who are aware of their relation to the larger art world and the social,
cultural and historical contexts in which they create, and who are capable
of engaging meaningfully as artists in these fluid and changing worlds. Exposure
and experience in a range of media, materials, techniques, processes, concepts,
and contexts serve to establish a broad based framework of meaningful learning
in painting, from introductory to advanced individual work.
