Grand
Valley’s Calder Art Center offers students state-of-the-art facilities
and technology that surpass those of many other art programs. Whether your
emphasis area employs traditional or contemporary practices, the recently
expanded art building includes excellent resources ranging from woodshops
to computer labs which are conscientiously maintained and regularly upgraded.
GVSU offers professionally equipped programs not only in painting and sculpture,
but also in such technically involved areas as graphic design, printmaking
and ceramics. Students can also receive technical support from faculty and
specialized staff within the department. In addition, many emphasis areas
provide studios in the art building for upper level BFA students. These workspaces
foster open dialogue between peers outside the classroom.
