Chitra Gopalakrishnan received her first MFA in Graphic Design from the ESAG Penninghen, Paris, France and her second MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She teaches a combination of courses in Foundations and Intermediate to Advanced Graphic Design. In addition to classes, she also leads collaborative student teams with the School of Computing that designs applications for mobile devices at GVSU as well as collaborations with several non-profits in the Grand Rapids area. Her personal work includes working as a consultant for Illum Design Project, New Delhi for commercial design projects. She is also one of the founding members of Kara Weaves, a handloom weaving project located in Kerala, India, where she works during summers.
