Art History Major

< Back

Visual media are a dynamic part of cultures throughout the world. Students interested in the role of art in society should consider majoring in art history. The field encourages them to explore how societies and individuals have used the visual arts to convey their ideas and values. Art historians don't only study facts, but apply historical, cultural, and theoretical approaches to interpret the monuments they study. Students also build their skills of inquiry, oral and written communication, as well as critical thinking to prepare them for their lives and careers after college.
