ART 421 - Surrealism
This course examines the construction of Surrealism, and to a lesser extent Dada, as cultures of radical critique emerging from the political crises of Europe in the early 20th century. Examples of Dada and Surrealist art, poetry, fiction, films, games, journals, and manifestos are contextualized within discussions of the broader political, psychological, and artistic discourses of the time.
